When will Crossy Road be released on other platforms?
Crossy Road was designed as a mobile title. We are very interested to bring it to platforms such as PC, Steam, handhelds, and consoles but no work has yet commenced.
Why can I not download/update Crossy Road on my device?
Sorry to hear you're having trouble downloading or updating Crossy Road.
There maybe a few reasons why;
On iOS and tvOS the device must be on OS 13 or greater to experience the latest in Crossy Road.
On Android the device must be on Android 5.1(22) or greater and the device must support OpenGLES 3 or Vulkan.
On Amazon the device must be on FireOS 5.0 or greater and support OpenGLES 3 or Vulkan.
To provide the most exciting experiences, devices which are only capable of OpenGLES2 are no longer supported if you're purchasing a new device check the device specifications sheet to be informed if the device would be compatible with the latest version of Crossy Road.
What languages is Crossy Road available in?
Crossy Road is available in English, Français, Deutsch, Italiano, Español, Português, русский язык, 正体字, 正體字, 日本語, 한국어, العربية
How do I switch languages?
To change languages, start playing and then on the end screen click on the button that looks like a cog to get to the settings screen. The languages button looks like a globe.
🐔 Characters
How do I unlock the Secret Characters?
Hidden Characters are unlocked in-game via secrets. If you don't care about spoilers then search Google or YouTube for information.
How do I unlock the Piggy Bank?
The Piggy Bank is a premium character and can only be unlocked via in-app purchase.
Why did I win a character I already own?
This is how a prize machine works! Each time you spin, every character is available to win - even the ones you already have. The closer you get to unlocking them all, the less likely you are to win a new figurine each time you play the prize machine. We have, however, built in an algorithm so that you will eventually win a new figurine even if you have been really unlucky with the prize machine.
Can I suggest a character?
Yes, but we make no promises about whether or not we will include it. Please do not ask when your suggestion will be included. Also note that we do not put people's pets, parents, or children in the game. Character suggestions must be broadly understood. We appreciate people playing with voxel character editors, but we cannot put your art in Crossy Road.
💾 Save Data
How do I sync my Google Play progress to my Android TV?
To sync you save data from your Android mobile device to an Android TV, please follow the steps below:
- Make sure you’re signed in to the Google Play Games app on your Android mobile device and that you’re running the latest version of Crossy Road
- Check that your running the latest version of Crossy Road on your Android TV
- Run Crossy Road on your Android TV
- Navigate to the Up Arrow on the bottom right-hand corner
- Select the controller icon
- This will then trigger Google Play Games to connect to your profile and you should see the Play Games banner appear at the top of the screen
- Your save data and character unlocks will now become synced via your Google account. This may take a few minutes to update or you may need to quit the game and restart to see your data.
How can I sync my progress with Google Play?
For Google Play to sync progress you must have a Google Play Games account and be signed in.
To sign in from within Crossy Road, select the 'up' arrow on the right of the start screen and press the Google Play Games button which looks like a crown:
The progress from your Google Play Games account will now sync.
If you are trying to sync progress from an old device to a new one, you will need to ensure that:
Progress can take up to 1 hour before it will sync with Google Play Games
If your progress is still not syncing, try force-closing Crossy Road and reopening. Upon launching, the Google Play Games sign-in process should begin automatically and a banner will appear on screen. If this does not occur, the sign-in may not have been completed successfully. Try and repeat the steps above.
You cannot use Google Play Games to sync your coins between devices. If you are transferring to a new device please contact our support team at support@hipsterwhale.com with a screenshot of your coin count to be transferred.
Can I transfer my purchases to my new device?
iOS
Your progress is automatically backed up via your AppleID and iCloud accounts. All you need to do is to play a few games (sometimes up to 12 games) and your progress should sync back up automatically.
To restore your purchases immediately:
- Open Crossy Road.
- Play one game with any character, die, and reach the End of Game screen.
- Click the Settings button (bottom left).
- Click "Support".
- Click "Restore Purchases".
Note: Characters you won from the prize machine will not be restored - only characters you have bought through IAP. We are working on a system to backup prize machine across all devices in a future update.
Android
Your purchases should restore automatically on Google Play :)

Android < > iOS < > Amazon < > Android
Unfortunately it is not possible to transfer data across platforms :(
To restore your purchases immediately:
- Open Crossy Road.
- Play one game with any character, die, and reach the End of Game screen.
- Click the Settings button (bottom left).
- Click "Support"
- Click "Restore Purchases"
Note: If you use the Restore Purchases button, characters you won from the prize machine will not be restored - only characters you have bought through IAP.
🏹 Troubleshooting
My game is crashing at the start
Android / Google Play / Windows Phone
Make sure that you do not have an ad-blocker enabled, or that Crossy Road is whitelisted. Crossy Road has optional ads in-game and ad-blockers prevent the game from working properly. We are looking at ways to work around this.

The game has stopped working
Turn your device off and on again and then re-open Crossy Road. Click here for instructions on how to restart your iOS device.
The Prize Machine has disappeared
You will only be offered to play the Prize Machine if there are characters in there that you don’t already have unlocked. Characters that are available from the prize machine are grey and have their names above them.
Secret characters are black and have question marks above them. Secret characters can only be unlocked by completing quests within gameplay. If you don’t mind spoilers try googling ‘unlock secret Crossy Road characters’ - there are loads of tutorials on YouTube to help you unlock them.
Token unlock characters require tokens to unlock them - they have question marks above them and a progress bar below. You can win and accumulate tokens by either playing Pecking Order each day, or by watching rewarded ads from within Pecking Order game mode.
There will be more characters to win from the prize machine each time we update.
I just got a new high score but it's not showing
Sorry to hear your awesome new high score hasn't recorded.
This can happen if you have a connectivity issue at the time you record your score, or if you didn't give your device time to save your progress before exiting Crossy Road at the time you made that score.
Unfortunately, we can't reset or restore high scores - sorry!
I can't get my Android TV controller to work
Sorry to hear you are having problems playing Crossy Road on your Android TV.
Unfortunately, we are not able to support every TV controller. If you have the capability to select up/down left/right most controllers should work, but we can’t guarantee it.
💵 Billing and Purchases
I would like a refund
iOS
We unfortunately cannot process refunds from our end on iOS. If you get in touch with Apple via your purchase receipt they will be able to help you with a refund. Alternatively, you can contact Apple HERE.
To make sure this doesn't happen again you will need to check your device permissions and settings for purchases. HERE is a link that should help you with this.
Google Play
If you would like to request a refund, please contact us directly from your device. To do this, play a game of Crossy Road and at the end screen, click on the Settings cog, then select Support > Email Support. Please have a copy of your GPA number which is on your Google Play receipt, or the Gmail address used to make the purchase.
I'm having problems with a purchase I made

If you are having issues with any purchase you have made, please contact us directly from the device you made the purchase with - play a game of Crossy Road, at the end screen click on the Settings cog, then select Support > Email Support. Please include a copy of your purchase receipt and we will get the problem fixed as soon as possible.

How does the Ad Blocker Pack work?
Purchasing the pack removes ALL ads in the game completely, forever. Even when you are not playing with the Ad Fighter or Ad Buster character. This includes autoplay ads and also reward ads.
You will still get all of the rewards where ads would have been, you just don’t have to watch an ad to claim them now. This includes coin banners, gifts, doublers, character re-rolls and any future placements.
For Parents: This pack replaces the parental ad block which previously removed interstitial ads for young players. We made this choice so that ALL ads could be removed, and players could still claim all prizes and enjoy the game to its fullest.
What is the difference between purchasing a regular character to remove ads vs purchasing the Ad Blocker Pack?
When you purchase any regular character, autoplay ads are removed forever. The Ad Blocker Pack not only removes autoplay ads, but it also allows you to collect rewards for coin banners, gifts, doublers, character re-rolls and any future placements without ever needing to view an ad.
I would like to report an inappropriate ad
We’re sorry to hear that you have been served an inappropriate ad.
We have a number of different ad providers for Crossy Road, and they all show ads on behalf of many different companies. We give these ad providers clear guidelines on what sort of advertising is appropriate in Crossy Road, and we also screen ads prior to release, but unfortunately sometimes ads will slip through that are not up to the standards we expect.

Can you also please let us know if you're on an Apple or Android device. If you notice any other inappropriate ads in the future, please take a screenshot of it and send it through.
Why have the ads stopped working?
Firstly, make sure you are connected to the internet and do not have an ad blocker enabled (on Android). If you have been playing the game and watching ads for a while but they have stopped showing, then you may have reached your daily maximum set by the Ad networks. Please wait 24 hours.

What are the parental controls?
Parental Controls are able to be accessed via the settings menu in the top left of the classic mode screen. It looks like:
The parental control options include:
- Disable the daily level (Pecking Order) - this will stop your child from being able to compete in online daily competition leaderboards. In the leaderboards the usernames of other players can be seen, but there is no direct contact between players (like chat/text) in Crossy Road. We aim to make Crossy Road safe for all ages, but you may still wish to disable this feature.
- Purchase Ad Blocker pack - this will disable all ads in the game forever. Your child will still get all of the rewards, but they won’t be presented with ads to claim them.
Where did multiplayer go?
Unfortunately we no longer offer Wi-fi multiplayer, but we do offer same device multiplayer. This mode can be accessed via the Mallard and Chicken icon on the main tab menu. In same device multiplayer, you play as Chicken and Mallard instead of just one chicken.
Why do you need me to give you so many permissions on my Android device?
Although this message is pretty confronting, we don’t actually need to access your phone calls - we need this permission so that we can pause your game when you receive a phone call or other interruption.
The photos, media and files access allows your coins and figurines to be backed up, and any screenshots you take to be shared if you choose.
What happened to Disney Crossy Road?
Alas, Disney Crossy Road is no more and is something that is out of our control. We had some fun times, though. Didn’t we?
